Capt. Earl Waters makes his home in Homosassa Florida, recognized as the most premier spot for taking Giant Tarpon on Fly. He has been guiding these waters since 1978, specializing in "sight fishing Florida Keys style", with light tackle, both Fly and Conventional.

Homosassa is located on the gulf coast, one hour north of Tampa International Airport and two hours west of Orlando Airport and Walt Disney World Resorts, making access to the area very convenient.

Crystal River, seven miles north of Homosassa is host to a newly remodeled county airport, for those of you who prefer setting their own flight plans.

Whether fishing from a skiff designed for shallow draft and stalking your prey or a boat designed to accommodate larger parties, you can be assured that the boat and all equipment will be state of the art and selected to perfectly match the quarry. Your fishing license, ice and all necessary tackle will be provided for you.

The season for Giant Tarpon is short and the fishing, fast and often furious. This fishing takes place in open water from 4 to 10 feet deep. The fish converge on the area in early May and move up and down the coastline daily through June.

Directly in shore of the Tarpon ground is a vast archipelago of mangrove islands surrounded by gin clear water reminiscent of the lower Florida Keys; my second home for fishing. Here Redfish supply us year round excitement on the flats. Homosassa offers the opportunity of fishing a flat that is loaded with fish and has very little fishing pressure.

If you desire the utmost, addictive and challenging fishing experience known to man, you have chosen the right place and guide. We’ll be fishing "Keys" style, your guide poling the boat and you perched on the bow, often in water so shallow that 90% of todays flats boats won’t even be able to float.

Most call it fishing, I call it hunting.

Moving through the water in a stealth like method, we will be looking for the tail tale sign of ripples, bubbles and wakes as Redfish (Red Drum) show themselves by waving their big tails as they browse for food. Using Fly Tackle and or 8 lb. Spin gear, and artificial lures, we can induce strikes with precision casts.

I
n the Spring, Stingrays provide us with great excitement when they push up on the shallow flats accompanied by 15-80 pound Cobia. The Cobia provide great fights as well as superb table fare.

Fishing the peak periods in the lower Florida Keys is a specialty of mine also. For the Angler who likes action in great numbers, Tarpon are abundant in all sizes from 15 to 100 pounds. Late June and July is an excellent time for Tarpon on light tackle and fly. And, if you’re lucky enough to catch a worm hatch at Bahia Honda, you will be dazzled.

October is also great in the lower Keys, with very little boat pressure and an excellent time for trophy Permit. There are also plenty of hungry Bonefish and Baby Tarpon to be found.

I also offer specialized fishing adventures and Bill Fishing on Fly and Light Tackle; with destinations in Mexico, Venezuela, and Costa Rica.
